In Jesus, I am already there

This morning, as I thought about my life and all its relationships (complex as they are), events (both terrific and horrific), and problems (trust me, I have no shortage here), my thoughts turned to God and what He has in store for me, as if I am waiting for things to change, things to get better, things to come to fruition.

This phrase sprang from my lips: “I’m already there.”

I. am. already. there.

I was stunned at my own words and comforted at the same time. Joy filled my heart because as I was contemplating a tangled, complicated web of life, the Spirit reminded me of who I am. A daughter of the Most High King.

In Christ I already have everything. Worldly possessions are temporary. Worldly lack is temporary. A fat bank account is temporary. Debt is temporary. I am already rich—wealthy really—in my inheritance in the kingdom of God.

In Christ I already have everything. The circumstances of this world are up one day, down the next. High peaks. Low valleys. Middle ground. Mundane. Fun. Angsty. Flat line. But I am already secure and victorious in my Savior. Joy is mine in Jesus. I am grounded and safe.

In Christ I already have everything. Not only that, I already AM everything. Sure, some days it doesn’t feel like it or I don’t embrace it or don’t fully realize it. But this journey brings me closer to living that truth—I am complete in Christ—every day. Wholeness is mine. Healing is mine—it was completed on the cross. I am fully forgiven. Fully free. I am loved by God, saved by Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

I’m already there. And in Jesus Christ our Savior, so are you. Hallelujah and amen!

Romans 8:2

“And because you belong to Him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”

1 Corinthians 6:11

“…you have been washed clean, set apart, restored, and set on the right path in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Anointed, by the Spirit of our living God.”

Colossians 1:12

“May you be made strong with all the strength which comes from his glorious power, so that you may be able to endure everything with patience. And with joy give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to have your share of what God has reserved for his people in the kingdom of light.”
