Let All of Creation Praise the Lord

When I think about praising God, I usually think about audible worship — church or other times of intentional worship and declaration that God is worthy of our praise. But praising God isn’t only demonstrating it intentionally in church or fellowship or home.

It is about living life as God intended it to be lived.

Psalm 148 gives a nice declaration that the natural response of the created is to praise the Creator.

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies!

Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven!

Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars!

Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!

Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being.

He set them in place forever and ever. His decree will never be revoked.

Praise the Lord from the earth, you creatures of the ocean depths, fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather that obey him, mountains and all hillsfruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying animals and birds, kings of the earth and all peoplerulers and judges of the earth, young men and young women, old [people] and children.

Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven! He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the Lord!

How does nature and all of creation praise God? By doing what He created it to do. By working within its natural function. Inanimate objects and all of life in nature praise God by doing what He intended.

So it is with humans.

We praise God by doing what we were created to do! No matter who we are, what our station in life, we can offer a praise and honor to our God by living according to His will.

I think about charity and forgiveness.

I think about joy and faithfulness.

I think about peace and love.

I think about Jesus.
